Dr. Pathirana received the 2020 AHA Postdoctoral Fellowship. The Award begins on 1/1/2020; the fellowship lasts for two years.
The project title is the “Translational Regulation of Candida albicans Biofilm Formation and Pathogenicity” and the goal is to identify components of C. albicans translational regulatory mechanisms that are could serve as potential targets for the development of new classes of antifungals to treat
heart patients with fungal endocarditis and/or catheter-associated candidemia, thus improving patient outcomes.
The project will be carried out in Dr. Pathirana current lab, under the mentorship of Dr. David Kadosh.
