Position Description

The laboratory of Dr. Katsumi Kitagawa (http://ccri.uthscsa.edu/KKitagawa.html) at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio) is seeking a highly motivated and 
enthusiastic scientist with a strong interest in studies on chromosome segregation. Our research goals are to understand the molecular mechanism of chromosome segregation and the role of CIN (chromosome instability) in cancer development. 

Our lab is physically located within the Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute (Greehey CCRI) at UT Health San Antonio. We have regular access to an extensive array of core institutional facilities located within the Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology, the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, and Greehey CCRI. 

The Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute is a unique specialized cancer research center focusing on basic and translational research in childhood cancer and occupies a state-of-the ­art 100,000 sq. foot research facility on the university's Greehey Academic and Research Campus.

The Greehey CCRI is dedicated to developing more effective and less toxic therapies for children afflicted by cancer. 

Position Requirements

A candidate with demonstrated experience in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, or immunofluorescence microscopy is preferred. A candidate should hold (or be expected to obtain) a PhD or equivalent degree in a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed their PhD within the next 2 years.
