Postdoctoral Fellow - Molecular Biology & Immunology Research

Posted Date:

Position Description

Zadeh Lab has three postdoctoral fellow positions available in the fields of microbiome and mucosal immunology research. The successful applicants will work on methods, strategies, and NIH studies led by Dr. Mansour Zadeh in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics at UT Health San Antonio.

Positions are available in the newly established and NIH funded Zadeh Research Lab at UT Health San Antonio to develop new avenues to elucidate the opaque mechanisms of the microbiome and associated metabolites involved in host health and gastrointestinal diseases. The lab's current research projects are centered around our investigation of a novel beneficial Propionibacterium and its related metabolites, and their potential roles in human health and diseases. The goal is to develop novel treatments and therapies to alleviate the morbidity of diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colorectal cancer, lupus, and various other intestinal diseases.

Successful applicants will work on the cutting edge of microbiome and mucosal molecular immunological research and will play a key role in making exciting discoveries and publishing novel manuscripts in high impact journals.

Position Requirements

Candidates must have a PhD in immunology, microbiology, or related field. A successful applicant will
have expertise in cellular immunology, flow cytometry, cell sorting and other immunology methods as well as molecular approaches (i.e., transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses).

Candidates must also have expertise in cellular and molecular immune biology and microbiology, including an understanding of microbiome-interactions.

These positions will be initially awarded for one year, and, contingent upon strong performance, conduct, and availability of funds, may be renewed up for up to 5 years.

How to Apply

To apply, please email Mansour Zadeh (zadehm@uthscsa.edu) and attach the following materials: curriculum vitae, a one-page personal statement describing your scientific accomplishments and research interests, cover letter, and contact information (including phone numbers) of three references.
