AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY AT THE UT HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER AT SAN ANTONIO

  1. We have a Postdoctoral position available in the T32 Biology of Aging Training Program for Postdoctoral Research Fellows.  This Training Program covers such areas as the mechanisms of aging, lifespan, and intervention analyses in aging and models of age-related diseases. The Program also covers translational-oriented aging research in a wide range of animal models, including marmosets, and early-phase clinical studies in human subjects. 

  2. Appointments of trainees into the Training Program are made for one year and may be renewed annually for up to 2 years, as determined by the T32 Program Directors and Training Program Advisory Committee, depending on trainee performance.  

  3. We are accepting applications for these Postdoctoral positions. Each applicant should have a mentor and a co-mentor.

How to Apply

The following information is required to complete the nomination packet and submitted to Debra Siller (sillerd@uthscsa.edu).

  1.  Trainee’s curriculum vitae;

  2. -  Faculty mentor’s and co-mentor’s curriculum vitae or biosketch; 
  3. -  One-page personal essay from the trainee describing her/his interest in aging research and ultimate career goals.  Note that it is not essential that students be enrolled in the Biology of Aging Discipline, but, if not, the application must make a strong case that the proposed research is relevant to aging research;
  4. - A 1/3 to 1/2 page statement from the mentor as to the relevance of the Trainee's project to one or more important questions in aging;
  5. -  Two letters of reference;
  6. -  Training plan for the applicant formulated by the mentor(s).  The training plan itself should include the following components: (1) a description of the project on which the applicant will work, including specific technologies that will be new to the potential trainee, (2) planned professional meetings which the applicant will attend that will benefit his or her overall career goals, (3) formal courses to be taken (if needed) including any off-campus short courses that might facilitate the trainee’s research, (4) the nature of training the applicant will receive in writing and grantsmanship, (5) the nature of training the applicant will receive in the responsible conduct of research (must include INTD 5082 Responsible Conduct of Research, if not already taken), and (6) a planned timeline with goals or milestones including (but not limited to) a publication of peer-reviewed article, and submission of a stage-appropriate proposal for external funding (submission of an F-, or K-series award or equivalent, within 18 months of appointment, is mandatory).
