STRONG STAR Consortium within the UT Health San Antonio Division of Behavioral Medicine is seeking a competent and motivated post-doctoral psychology fellow to provide prevention services and evidence-based PTSD treatment to military service members, veterans, and their families. The fellow will be expertly trained and will receive extensive supervision and consultation in trauma- and stress-focused prevention programming and interventions, including Strong Families Strong Forces protocol, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) for PTSD, and Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD. Strong Families is a prevention program aimed to support families throughout deployments and other military-related transitions, reduce parenting stress, facilitate effective coparenting, and reduce or prevent adverse reactions to military-related transitions in children.
This position will support the STRONG STAR clinical program at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. The STRONG STAR Consortium is a multi-institutional, multidisciplinary research group of over 150 collaborating national scientists and clinicians funded by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs to develop and evaluation approaches for the prevention and treatment of combat-related PTSD and related mental health problems among active duty military personnel.
Position Located in Killeen, Texas at Fort Hood
Qualifications for this position include a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. Fellows are required to have completed an APA Accredited Internship and APA Accredited Doctoral Program. All applicants must have the unrestricted ability to work in the US. Previous experience working with military service members or veterans, providing evidence-based PTSD treatment, and/or working with children and families is preferred. Spanish speaking fluency is highly valued. Per the Strong Families protocol, sessions may occur in the family’s home or in STRONG STAR offices. Hours are flexible. This position requires accommodating families’ schedules, including evening appointments. This position requires a personal vehicle to accommodate travel to in-home appointments. Our fellows receive a competitive salary of $54,835 as well as exceptional health care and retirement benefits.
