Postdoc of the Day!

Peter LoCoco, PhD

Endodontics

"Peter is an outstanding postdoc. He is creative, focused and very strong in both his research and knowledge of the current literature. He is co-first author of a Nature Metabolism paper that was published two months ago and is already in the 99th percentile for downloads and web presence. He is well on his way to a very successful career as an independent scientist."

Debora Melo van Lent, PhD

Neurology
Glenn Biggs Institute Research Fellow

"She is an exceptional postdoctoral fellow whom it has been a joy to mentor. She combines focus, determination and hard work, with a real joy in getting to know, help and work with her team-mates. In the 3 years she has worked with us she has received an R03 and a foundation grant as PI, mentored a graduate student, collaborated with 8 international cohorts on studies of nutrition, spoken at scientific meetings and to Caregivers of dementia patients, served as the Vice-Chair of the Nutrition Metabolism and Dementia Professional Interest Area for the Alzheimer Association and done this all with her usual panache and smile. She has helped set a tone of co-operation, adventure and fun at the Biggs! She also believes in and practices self-care and self-advocacy with respect and confidence. We hope she will be a faculty colleague here one day soon!"

Briana Mason, PhD

Pharmacology
NIDA T32 Research Fellow

"Dr. Mason joined my laboratory in February of 2020 and spent much of her first year as a “virtual” postdoc. In addition to adapting to a world where lab meetings, journal clubs, scientific meetings, etc. are conducted via Zoom, Briana has worked hard to master a number of sophisticated behavioral techniques for evaluating candidate medications for substance use disorder. Over the past year and a half, I have come to know Briana as a bright and motivated young scientist, a consummate team player, and someone that I look forward to working with for years to come – thanks, Briana!"

Jihoon Lee, PhD

Molecular Medicine

"Dr. Jihoon Lee has all the qualities that an excellent postdoc should have. He's knowledgeable and creative with a great work ethic. Although he only joined my lab in 2018, he has already published two first-author papers including one in Science Advances. He has three additional first-author manuscripts currently in preparation. I really appreciate his passion for science and research, dedication to his work and his always being ready to help junior members in the lab. I have no doubt that he will be a very successful PI when he becomes independent in the future. Thanks Jihoon for all you do!"

She has all the calibers to be a first-rate researcher, and a great role model for young scientists."
