Postdoctoral opportunity

Location: UT Health San Antonio, 7703 Floyd Curl Dr, San Antonio, Texas 78229.The Mazin Lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology is recruiting two highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellows to conduct basic and translational studies on DNA repair and tumorigenesis.  The projects available: a) study the mechanisms of DNA repair (including RNA-dependent DNA repair) using biochemical, biophysical, and structural approaches; b) development of small molecule inhibitors targeting DNA repair proteins for anticancer therapy and analysis of the mechanisms of therapeutic resistance.

 

Position Requirements

The positions will require experience: position (a) with biochemical, biophysical, and structural biology approaches; position (b) with cell-based and mouse-based methods, familiarity with CRISPR-Cas screening is a plus. Position (a) will involve collaboration with a specialized structure biology lab (Dr. Libich).

The Department houses state-of-the art core facilities (X-ray crystallography, Cryo-EM, NMR spectroscopy, SPR, ITC/DSC, microscale thermophoresis), mass spectrometry (proteomics and metabolomics), and the Center for Innovative Drug Discovery. San Antonio is the seventh-largest city in the U.S., with a historical downtown, a vibrant economy, affordable housing, and many recreational opportunities.
