Position Description: 

Heart attacks and stroke are the most common causes of death and disability in the United States and are most often the result of occlusion (blockage) of blood flow to the heart or brain. Well-trained scientists are needed to investigate the causes and complications of these occlusive events. This research training program is designed to prepare early career scientists to become independent investigators who can work in teams to discover answers that will lead to the prevention and treatment of occlusive vascular disease. This NIH-sponsored NRSA postdoctoral research training program in cardiovascular pathobiology (HL07446) offers concentrated interdisciplinary research training across diverse laboratories with wide-ranging areas of expertise. This training program provides up to three years of support for highly motivated postdoctoral trainees. The expertise of participating mentors includes:

Position Requirements: 

Applicants must have recently completed all requirements for a professional doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DO, DVM, PharmD, MBBS) and have substantial research expertise with at least one first author publication. Applicants may not have received more than 2 years of prior support on an Institutional or Individual NRSA grant (F32 or T32). Applicants must be US citizens or non-citizen nationals, or must have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence and possess an Alien Registration Receipt Card (I-151 or I-155) or some other verification of legal admission as a permanent resident. Applications can be accepted from persons whose residence application is pending, however residency status must be established prior to appointment. Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible.
