Epigenome and Epitranscriptome Postdoctoral Position

Posted Date:

Position Description

One postdoctoral position in epigenome and epitranscriptome is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jihoon Lee (https://www.jhleelab.com) in the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, located in San Antonio, Texas. Our research programs are supported by a recently awarded NIH R01 grant (National Cancer Institute). Our research program will focus on the contextspecific network between epigenetic and epitranscriptomic programs in gene regulation. We also focuses on translational research with ultimate goals to develop novel therapeutic strategies. We routinely integrates next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and bioinformatic tools to investigate altered epigenome and epitranscriptome in human cancers, which will help the trainees to build up strong expertise and training record in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, and multi-omics including epigenomics, transcriptomics, epitranscriptomics, and proteomics.

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio has vibrant and flourishing research enterprise that has multiple opportunities for the candidate in the areas of career development, career advancement, mentoring, and individualized training. San Antonio is one of the fastest growing cities. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is the largest university of health science in South Texas and one of four medical schools in the University of Texas System. The affiliated Mays Cancer Center is one of the NCI-designated national cancer centers in the state of Texas.

Position Requirements

Successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent), possess great experimental and communication skills, and demonstrate solid training in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, RNA biology, and cancer biology. Prior experience in next-generation sequencing techniques and animal models is preferred but not essential. In addition to competitive salary (>$561</year) and comprehensive benefits, the successful candidates will be provided with strong support for developing an independent research career after postdoctoral training.
