Position Description
The Swallowing and Upper Aerodigestive Research Laboratory [SAUL] in the Department of Health Sciences, UT San Antonio Health Science Center, is recruiting a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) PhD clinician researcher to work with the SAUL team on a 3-year federally funded grant, "SwallowFit". This is a multisite clinical trial of swallowing intervention in Parkinson's disease (PD). Our research involves evaluating the impact of a preventative intervention for early dysphagia in US service members and their families. The SLP researcher will work closely with the PI, Dr. Giselle Carnaby, and experienced neurology collaborators at the Brooke Army Medical Center [BAMC] and population health at UT San Antonio Health Science Center. This work will contribute to revealing the underlying mechanisms and responses to a novel preventative intervention for dysphagia in PD. The position will be housed at the UT San Antonio Health Science Center SAUL lab in TX. The role allows for integration into the study team and School of Health Professions. The postdoctoral scholar will be involved in oversight and integration of lab activities over the study period, including presentation and publication of findings.
