Postdoc Position Focusing on Epigenetics and Translational Cancer Research

Position Description

One postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Kexin Xu in the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio), located in San Antonio, Texas. UT Health San Antonio is the largest university of health science in South Texas and one of four medical schools in the UT System. The affiliated UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the NCI-designated national cancer centers in the state of Texas. 

Selected candidates will perform highly interdisciplinary and collaborative scientific research in one or more of the following areas: (1 ). Explore the roles of epigenetics in cancer development and progression; (2) Decipher the changes in chromatin structure, epigenetic landscapes and gene expression patterns upon dysregulation of certain epigenetic enzymes; (3) Identify diagnostic/prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for multiple human cancer types; (4) Develop chemical probes and therapeutics for pre-clinical studies and potential clinical applications. Postdoc in this position will have close interactions with professionals with diverse backgrounds, such as bioinformatician, medicinal chemists and oncologists, and may deal with animal models and clinical samples. The research program will help the trainees to build up strong expertise and training record in bioinformatics, multi-omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenomics and metabolomics) approaches, animal models and high-throughput screening, etc. 

Position Requirements

The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in molecular/cellular biology, cancer biology, or closely related biological sciences. Prior experience in next-generation sequencing techniques and animal models is a strong plus.
