Postdoctoral Fellow - Structural Neurobiology

Posted Date:

Position Description

The Klykov lab in the Department of Biochemistry & Structural Biology at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is recruiting two postdoctoral fellows to conduct basic and translational studies on synaptic transmission. Available projects utilize structural proteomics approaches combined with cryo-EM and in-situ cryo-ET, and include method development components. Several collaborative projects include structural characterization of mitochondrial membrane proteins.

The cryo-EM facility at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio hosts a screening setup
(200kV Glacios TEM, with a Falcon 4 direct electron detector, and Selectris Imaging Filter), along with all standard instrumentation for cryo-EM sample preparation. The lab is additionally equipped with data analysis servers and by the end of 2023, dedicated in situ cryo-ET vitrification and cryo-FLM (CLEM) setups will be acquired. Mass spectrometry facility hosts five instruments including Orbitrap Exploris 480 and Orbitrap Fusion Lumos. San Antonio is the seventh-largest city in the U.S., with a historical downtown, a vibrant economy, affordable housing, and numerous recreational opportunities.

The postdoctoral positions are funded for 3 years with a potential extension of up to 5 years. This position provides an attractive salary (above the national average) and generous benefits.

Position Requirements

We are seeking highly motivated candidates who have a Doctoral degree in one of the following or closely related fields: neuroscience, molecular biology, mass spectrometry, cryo-EM/ET, and/or image processing techniques.
