Position Description

We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to join the dynamic team of Dr. Yan Xiang's laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Texas Health San Antonio. The postdoctoral position focuses on molecular virology, particularly in the context of SARS-CoV-2, and contributing to the development of novel antiviral strategies. 

Research Focus:

The research focus of the Xiang lab is on virus-host interactions, with an emphasis on poxviruses and SARS-CoV-2. Our ongoing projects delve into innate immunity, viral replication mechanisms, and the development of antivirals and vaccines. Recent works from the lab were published in Science Advance (Zhang et al., 2023, doi: 10.1126/sciadv.adh8502) and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (Peng et al., 2022, doi: 10.1073/pnas.2116550119).

 

Position Requirements

Prospective applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in virology, molecular biology, or related fields. A strong track record of publishing first-author papers is preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience. Minimum salary for a postoc is currently at $56,484/year.
